KENNESAW, Ga. – Following the conclusion of the NFL Draft Saturday evening, former Kennesaw State University defensive line standout
Auzoyah Alufohai signed a free agent deal with the Houston Texans.
A force on the defensive side of the ball for the Owls, Alufohai was part of the original signing class at Kennesaw State and participated in the practice season before playing in 32 games in three years. He recorded 47 tackles for KSU and started all 14 games as the Owls captured their first Big South Conference championship in 2017 and made a run to the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs.
Â
Â
The Alpharetta, Georgia native suffered a season-ending injury prior to the 2018 campaign and an appeal to the NCAA to receive another year of eligibility at the FCS level was denied, sending him to West Georgia to complete his collegiate career.
Â
Alufohai continued his upward trajectory last year, earning All-America honorable mention honors at the Division II level and receiving an invitation to showcase his talents at the East-West Shrine Bowl.
Â
He recorded a career-high eight tackles in his final game at Kennesaw State against Sam Houston State in the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs and ended his junior year ranking 15th in the Big South Conference in total tackles among all ends and linemen.Â
