KENNESAW, Ga. – The Owls shutout Brown in both games of Saturday's doubleheader, which marks the first time KSU has recorded back-to-back shutouts since 2014.
Â
Game One
The Owls won the first game of the day, 2-0, in large part due to KSU's excellent pitching with runners on base. The Owl's pitching staff stranded 11 runners in the shortened 7.0 inning game.
Â
Starting pitcher
Ryan Kennedy (2-2) spent the whole day fighting his way out of tough situations on the mound. In the second inning with the bases loaded, Kennedy struck out Garett Delano to retire the side. In the next inning, with runners on second and third and two outs, he caused Cameron Deere to ground-out to shortstop. All in all, Kennedy lasted 5.0 innings giving up four hits and no runs while fanning four.

Tyler Tolve had both RBI's for the Owls. The first of Tolve's RBI's came in the first when he grounded out to second but scored
Alex Carballo in the process. In the third inning, he laid down a sacrifice bunt to score
Ryan Smith and give the Owls a 2-0 lead.
Â
Monty Horn earned the save, lasting 2.0 innings while giving up just one hit and striking out three.
Â
Game Two
The Owls won their second game, 8-0, behind a career day from freshman
Colby Williams (2-1). In what was his first start of the year, Williams went 7.0 innings giving up just five hits and no runs while fanning a career high nine batters behind a nasty curve ball.
Â
The bats came alive for the Owls in this game as they put at least one run up on the board in each of the first six innings.
Justin Russell had a particularly impressive performance at the plate for KSU. Russell went 3-for-4 with one run scored and two RBI's. He had the highlight of the game with a solo shot over the right field fence in the third inning to give the Owls a 4-0 lead.
Â
Terence Norman got the scoring started for the Owls early in the first inning. With
Garrett Hodges on second, Norman hit a single up the middle that scored Hodges and gave the Owls an early 1-0 lead. Norman finished the day going 1-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and a run scored.
Carballo continued his impressive campaign at the plate. He went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Carballo is now first in the ASUN in total RBI's with 16 and sits in a tie for third in total runs scored with 14.Â
