KENNESAW, Ga. – The pitching staff of Kennesaw State (7-6) couldn't keep up with Brown's bats, as the Owls dropped the first game of their weekend series with Brown, 19-5. Brown scored a combined 12 runs in innings seven and eight to put the game out of reach for the Owls.

After Brown (3-6) went up three in the first inning, KSU mounted a comeback in the third to tie the game at three runs apiece.
Alex Carballo got things rolling for the Owls, recording a two-run single that brought home
Marcerio Allen and
Tyler Simon. Later that inning
Garrett Hodges grounded out to second to score Carballo and tie the game.

Terence Norman had a nice day at the plate in his return after a four-game absence. Hitting in the designated hitter position, Norman went 2-for-4 at the plate, bringing his season batting average to .343.

Jared Rine (1-1) drew the start on the mound for the Owls in the first game against Brown. Rine lasted for 5.0 innings, giving up nine hits and four earned runs while fanning three batters. After Rine, five other pitchers for KSU made an appearance on the mound. Those five pitchers gave up a combined eight hits and nine earned runs.

Brown had an uncharacteristically hot day at the plate, with all nine of their starters getting a hit. Brown hit .370 at the plate today even though they came into the game hitting only .206 on the year. Pitcher Garett Delano was particularly impressive at the plate for the Bears. Delano went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI's and three runs scored.

The Owls return to action tomorrow in the second game of their four-game series with Brown at 1 p.m. at Stillwell Stadium.
