KENNESAW, Ga. – Despite the Owls three home runs, Jacksonville State emerged victorious, 14-10, in a 15-inning game that will go down as an instant classic.

In a game that lasted 4:37 and had five lead changes, the Owls just couldn't hold on quite long enough to fight off the offense of the Gamecocks. With this loss, Kennesaw State falls to 10-7 on the year.

Alex Carballo was outstanding at the plate for the Owls. Carballo went 3-for-6 with four RBI's, two runs scored, and two big time home runs. The first of his homers was a two-run shot over the right field fence that came in the seventh inning and brought the Owls within one run of the Gamecocks. In his next at-bat, with the Owls down two runs in the ninth inning, he hit his second home run of the night which scored two and tied things up for KSU, bringing the game into extra innings.

With the Owls down one in the 13
th inning,
Tyler Simon hit Kennesaw's third home run of the night to extend the game and keep hope alive for KSU. Simon finished the night going 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBI's and two runs scored.

In the 14
th inning, down three runs, the Owls did the improbable by scoring three runs of their own and knotting up the game for the fourth time. The first two runs came off a
Logan Fink single through the left side to score
Nick Hassan and
Justin Russell. The game tying run was delivered by Simon, who came up big in clutch moments all night, to score
Joseph Gossett.

Hassan continued to dominate at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two doubles and two runs scored.

Starting pitcher
Brison Finney lasted for 5.0 innings, giving up just three hits and two earned runs while striking out three batters.

The Owls take the field again on Wednesday when they take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats at 5 p.m. at Stillwell Stadium.
