KENNESAW, Ga. – In a game that went back-and-forth Kennesaw State emerged victorious against a 2019 regional squad in Cincinnati, 11-7.
The win moved the Owls to 3-0 for the first time since 2013.
In a game where the lead changed four times, freshman
Nick Hassan was the catalyst for the Owls in his first ever start as he went 4-for-5 from the plate with five RBI. Hassan iced the game in the bottom of the eighth with a three RBI double to left field to put the Owls up six.
The Owls first offensive outburst came in the bottom of the fourth in which they scored three runs and took their first lead of the game. Kennesaw gained their first lead off an RBI single to right center field by Hassan that brought
Alex Carballo home.
After surrendering the lead in the top of the sixth inning, the Owls offense rebounded in the sixth frame, scoring four runs to regain a lead that they didn't relinquish for the rest of the game.
Freshman
Colby Williams earned his first career win in his first appearance for the Owls, giving up only two hits and two runs while striking out four in just 2.2 innings pitched.
Starting pitcher
Jared Rine had an impressive performance as well, giving up just one earned run on three hits in 5.0 innings pitched.
Kennesaw State's next game will be on Wednesday, February 19 against Georgia at Stillwell Stadium at 6 p.m.
