KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State University soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Furman University Friday night at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

"I'm proud of our team. Furman is a great team and that was a tune-up for our conference play," said Head Coach Benji Walton. "It came down to who made the fewest mistakes and we made some and were punished. We fought hard, and there's something we can take from this game into our next one."

The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for KSU (3-2-0), while Furman improved to 4-1-0.

The opening half saw each team compete equally until the waning seconds. Furman's Amanda Baker scored with only nine seconds remaining (44:51) in the period to break the tie.

In the second half, another late goal sealed the game for Furman. Lauren O'Hearn's free kick found room just under the crossbar for a 2-0 Paladin lead at 83:39.

The Paladins had six shots with three on-goal in the opening half, while the Owls totaled four shots. In the latter, KSU had six shots with three on-target. Kendall Higgs had two on-goal and three shots total.

Tiffany Sornpao had two saves in each half.

KSU continues its five-game home stretch Sunday at 6 p.m. against Presbyterian College.
