LAWRENCE, Kan. – Camryn Simmons scored her first career goal as Kennesaw State University fought hard in a 3-1 setback to #14 Kansas University Sunday at Rock Chalk Park.
"It was a tough weekend, but we learned a lot about our team," said Head Coach Benji Walton. "Now our focus turns to conference play and we are excited to get stated."
Simmons, a freshman from St. John's, Fla., scored at 73:32 thanks to an Erin Harris pass for her first goal to lead the Owls (5-4-0).
Sophie Maierhofer (7:47) and Katie McClure (17:00, 55:38) scored for the Jayhawks (8-2-0).
KSU had five shots with two on-goal. Goalkeeper Tiffany Sornpao had three saves.
The Owls begin ASUN Conference play at Lipscomb on Sept. 26 with an 8 p.m. ET kickoff.
