Football Plays Host To Point To Open 2019 Slate

KENNESAW, Ga. - The No. 10 Kennesaw State football team returns to the gridiron on Saturday (Aug. 31) against Point University for the first time in 2019 as it looks to capture its third-straight Big South Championship.

Owl Town Is The Place To Be!
• Owl Town is a free tailgate open to the public that begins three hours prior to kickoff. Located at the Owls Nest, which is off Busbee Dr. and across from the Gold Lot, Owl Town provides a fun and festive atmosphere for all ages.

•  Be sure to arrive early because thanks to J.D.'s Bar-B-Que, Owl Town has free food to the first 200 fans! Alcohol, soft drinks and water will be available for sale. Owl Town closes 30 minutes prior to kickoff.

•  The first 2,500 fans into the gate on Saturday will receive an exclusive schedule magnet that will feature the football teams' 2019 slate.


Top Storylines
• Kennesaw State is looking to win its first season opener since 2015, the first game in program history when the Owls beat ETSU, 56-16.

• In its young infancy as a program, KSU hasn't often faced opponents from its home state of Georgia, however, it has dropped just one game, a 24-20 battle at Georgia State last season.

• The Owls are 5-1 all time against teams from the Peach State.

• At 102 miles separating the two schools, Point is the farthest school in Georgia that the Owls have played.

• Kennesaw State enters the 2019 season looking to become the first team in Big South history to win three straight outright conference championships.

• Last season, the Owls became the third Big South member to win consecutive conference championships with an undefeated record, posting back-to-back 5-0 league records.

• Dating back to Week 2 of the 2017 season, KSU has won 23 of its last 26 games, including going 5-2 against ranked teams.

• The Owls have not lost a regular season home contest since Oct. 15, 2016, winning 13 consecutive games.

• KSU's 18 consecutive regular season FCS wins are the most in Big South Conference history. The Owls have also won their last nine regular season non-conference FCS contests, which is the third-longest streak in league history.

• The Owls return just 29.3 percent of their scoring from a year ago and return just one starter on offense, the fewest of any team in the Big South.

• Kennesaw State has finished in the top three nationally in rushing offense each of the last three years, including a program-best and Big South record 352.9 yards per game last season.

• Excluding the inaugural class of the "OG's" that featured 74 freshmen, the 2019 roster features the most freshmen that have been on a Kennesaw State roster with 48.
