2019 Media Day Notes
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the third-straight season the Kennesaw State football team was voted as the preseason favorite in the Big South while also capturing a league-high nine preseason all-conference selections, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The Owls received 14-of-20 first-place votes to rank first overall in the Big South Conference Preseason Poll.
Headlining the nine selections on the preseason all-conference team is
Bryson Armstrong, who was voted the Big South Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, an honor he has collected in back-to-back seasons.
After leading a Kennesaw State defense that set a Big South record for points allowed per game (15.4) last season, Armstrong, Desmond Johnson Jr.,
Andrew Butcher,
Dorian Walker and
Cincere Mason each captured a spot on the First Team All-Conference list.
Following an incredible freshman campaign that earned him 2018 Big South Special Teams Player of the Year accolades,
Isaac Foster was named to the 2019 First Team preseason list as a kick returner and a punt returner.
Shaquil Terry is the lone returning starter for the Owls on the offensive side of the ball and is KSU's sole representative as an offensive preseason selection. After running for 575 yards on 78 carries and five touchdowns, he earned a spot on the Honorable Mention list.
Charlie Patrick received a spot on the Preseason Honorable Mention list after finishing third on the team in tackles in 2018 (55) and helping guide a defense that was the first Big South squad to limit five consecutive opponents to 13 points or less.
Kennesaw State finished 11-2 in 2018 and earned a No. 4 national seed in the FCS Playoffs and reached the FCS quarterfinals for the second-straight season. The Owls have won 37 games in their first four seasons, the second most by a start-up program behind Old Dominion.
Stingy at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, KSU is 22-4 at home in four seasons and have won 13 consecutive regular season games at home.
