CONWAY, S.C. – The Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team saw their season come to an end Thursday afternoon, falling to No. 1 seed Jacksonville 24-8 in the ASUN Tournament semifinals.

How it happened:Â It was a whirlwind start for the Owls (8-10) and Dolphins (15-3) as the two squads traded goals just 30 seconds into the game.
Siena Gore netted KSU's opening goal, converting a free-position attempt to keep the game level 1-1.

Gore followed that up with another goal just two minutes later to give the Owls their sole lead of the game 2-1. JU responded with back-to-back goals before in under 20 seconds before
Haley Swift knotted it up at 3-3 with 25:55 still to play.

The Dolphins then seized control as JU's Lillie Miller scored two straight goals to spark a 13-0 run throughout the rest of the first half. JU held the Owls to only seven shots in the final 25 minutes of the half, recording four saves to keep KSU off the board.

Anna Giulitto finally snapped the Owls' scoring drought in the second half, following another three goals from JU, netting a goal at the 22:57 mark to make it 19-4. After two more goals by the Dolphins, the Owls started to claw their way back into it with a 4-0 run.

Siena and
Marissa Gore opened the run with back-to-back goals with 14:47 to play.
Emily Napierala kept the train rolling with two straight goals, scoring her first off the dish from freshman
Payton Gregory, her first career assist.

The Dolphins squashed the Owls' comeback attempt as Miller scored two straight with just over six minutes to go to close out the game on a 3-0 run and earn the final score.
