KENNESAW, Ga. – A program-high seven Big South Conference games, including four league games at home highlight the 2019 schedule for the Kennesaw State football team.
Â
The fifth-year program looks to win its third-straight Big South championship after capturing the league title in 2017 and 2018. Head coach
Brian Bohannon has led Kennesaw State to unprecedented heights in its short history, being the first program to produce a Jerry Rice Award winner, given to the nation's top freshman, and the Walter Payton Award Runner-Up, given to the nation's top offensive player, in a program's first four seasons.
Â
The Owls open the 2019 slate on Aug. 31 against Point University at Fifth Third Bank Stadium for the third meeting between the two programs. KSU holds a 105-20 scoring advantage all-time against the Skyhawks.
Â
Kennesaw State will then hit the road looking for its first win over an FBS opponent on Sept. 7, traveling to Kent State for a date with the Golden Flashes. The Owls will stay on the road the next two weeks, making trips to Alabama State on Sept. 14, before traveling to Missouri State on Sept 21, marking the first regular season matchup against a team from the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
Â
After three straight road games in three different states, KSU returns home to face nearby Reinhardt University on Sept. 28. The matchup marks the first meeting between the two schools that are separated by just 24 miles.
Â
Following a bye week on Oct. 5, the Owls open Big South Conference play with Charleston Southern on Oct. 12 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Kennesaw State then travels to Presbyterian (Oct. 19), before coming home to host North Alabama on Oct. 26 as UNA plays its inaugural season in the league.
Â
The Owls open the month of November by welcoming Monmouth on Nov. 2 before traveling to Campbell on Nov. 9. On Nov. 16, KSU will compete in its final road game of the regular season at Hampton, who is beginning its journey in the Big South in 2019. Kennesaw State closes out the regular season at home on Nov. 23, welcoming Gardner-Webb to town for Senior Day.
Â
The Owls enter the 2019 season with a 22-4 all-time record at Fifth Third Bank Stadium and have put together 11-game winning streaks in each of the last two seasons. In the last two years, KSU has 23 total wins, consecutive FCS Playoffs quarterfinal appearances and 11 All-America selections.
