Game One Box Score (PDF) | Game Two Box Score (PDF)

DELAND, Fla. – The Owls edged Stetson 2-1 in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader after dropping the first game, 4-0.

Game One

After the playing the first seven innings of the contest on Friday, the Owls and the Hatters finished game two of the three-game set prior to game three.

Kennesaw State entered the day down 3-0 at the top of the eighth inning. After not pushing any runs across in the top of the inning, KSU surrendered one run in the bottom of the frame.

The Owls could not find a way to extend the game and fell 4-0.

Game Two

In a shortened seven inning contest due to travel constraints, Kennesaw State emerged victorious in a low-scoring affair, 2-1.

Tyler Simon blasted his first home run of the season on the third pitch of the contest to give the Owls an early 1-0 lead in the contest. Neither team plated a run until the fifth inning when the Owls scored their second run of the game.

Jake Rothwell tossed his second-straight Sunday and was impressive; working 4.1 innings while giving up just four hits and zero runs. He also added two punchouts to his final line.

The Owls took advantage of a Hatter miscue in the fifth inning, when David Chabut scored on a throwing error by the Stetson pitcher.

The Hatters picked one run in the sixth inning, but could not string together anything else and the Owls finished on top, 2-1.

Jared Rine pitched another gem out of the bullpen and picked up the win. He tossed 2.2 innings, yielding two hits and one run.

The Owls welcome Georgia State to Stillwell Stadium on Monday (April 22). First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
