KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State lacrosse team could not get into a groove Thursday afternoon against league-leading Jacksonville as the Dolphins hounded the Owls to force 28 turnovers on the way to a 20-3 result.
How it happened: The Dolphins (12-3, 5-0) set the tone early, jumping out to a 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the game. JU built that lead up to 9-0 before
Siena Gore finally got the Owls (6-9, 1-3) on the board with 8:30 to go in the half.
Emily Napierala netted a goal just a few minutes later looking to spark a late run for KSU, but the Dolphins and Owls traded goals in the final minutes to head into the locker room down 10-3.
The second half was all Jacksonville as the No. 3 scoring team in the nation, extended its lead to 10 goals, 13-3, at the 21:42 mark to earn a running clock. The Dolphins shut out the Owls in the second half, pushing their lead to 20-3 following a goal with 38 seconds left to play.
Notes: Siena Gore led the team with two goals, the first time this season she has scored less than three goals in back-to-back games …
Emily Napierala's goal marked her 15th of the season … the Dolphins out-shot KSU 34-11 in the game … KSU finished 2-for-4 on free position attempts …
