KENNESAW, Ga. – Contributions throughout its roster led the Kennesaw State softball team to a pair of victories during the opening day of the Bobbie Bailey Memorial Tournament Friday at Bailey Park.
Behind another stellar pitching performance from senior
Hailey Andrews, the Owls (11-11) posted a 4-0 victory over Wright State before capping the day with an 11-hit attack in a 10-5 win over Saint Louis that extended KSU's winning streak to a season-high six games.
Kennesaw State was led offensively by freshman
Katie Greep, who scored three runs, homered and collected two RBIs, while junior
Hannah Thomason reached base five times in seven plate appearances and scored four runs from the leadoff spot. Junior
Jade Lee and senior
Jessie Mullen also hit home runs.
In the opener versus Wright State, Andrews (6-6) extended her consecutive scoreless innings streak to 26 2/3 innings – after tossing a complete game, allowing two hits, walking four and striking out 10. Over the course of her last five appearances, the Owls' right-hander has struck out 42 batters in 30 2/3 innings.
In the nightcap, freshman left-hander
Peyton Elzey (1-2) earned her first collegiate victory after working four innings, scattering seven hits, allowing three earned runs and walking one. Junior
Abby Deane recorded her first save of the season after pitching three innings of relief, allowing one hit, a run, walking two and striking out three.

Thomason got the Owls going early, leading off the bottom of the first with a base hit, stealing second, advancing to third on a single by
Maddie Roth and scoring on an infield out. Greep extended KSU's lead with a solo home run in the fourth, and Kennesaw State increased its advantage on back-to-back run-scoring hits by Lee and
Lexi Solorzano.
Saint Louis Recap
The Owls scored in each of the first four innings, and after plating a run in the first, scored two in the second, three times in the third and four runs in the fourth. Greep led the offense, collecting three hits, scoring twice and driving in a run. Mullen had the big blow, connecting for a three-run home run to left field in the third inning before Lee cleared the fence with a two-run shot in the fourth.
Kennesaw State returns to Bailey Park Saturday as faces Eastern Kentucky at 12:30 p.m. before wrapping up the day with a 5:30 p.m. contest versus Saint Louis.
