BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Daniel Seres displayed power at the plate with a pair of home runs to left field in the 6-3 setback at Samford.
After Samford plated the first run of the game in the opening frame, Seres rocketed a ball off of the left field foul pole for his first home run of the season that evened the ballgame at one run.
The Bulldogs took back the lead in the bottom of the third inning with a pair of runs, going ahead 3-1. After a scoreless fourth inning, Seres pulled the Owls within a run in the fifth inning, after putting his second home run of the day over the left field fence.
The Owls surrendered three runs in the sixth inning and found themselves in a 6-2 hole heading into the seventh. With one out in the seventh frame,
Tyler Simon scored
Alex Carballo on a ground out to the short stop to cut the Bulldog lead to 6-3.
Kennesaw State could not rally and fell by three runs.
Josh Coburn started the game and pitched 2.0 innings and allowed three earned runs.
At the plate, Seres ended the game 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and two RBIs.
Garrett Hodges and
Jake Franklin each tallied a pair of hits.
