The Kennesaw State men's tennis team continues its season with a pair of road trips to Georgia Tech on Friday (Feb.8) and Kentucky for a doubleheader on Sunday (Feb.10).

Emery Returns to Kentucky
Matt Emery will lead the Owls into Kentucky for the first time in program history on Sunday. Emery was named Director of Tennis in July of 2018. He came to KSU after spending six years as an assistant men's tennis coach at the University of Kentucky. Â
Scouting Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech is 3-2 so far this season. They were beaten by Auburn and Georgia last weekend.

The Wildcats are 3-2 so far this season. The Wildcats fell 5-2 to Virginia on Sunday (Feb.3)

The Series
This will be the first meeting between KSU and Kentucky. The Owls and Yelow Jackets met once in 2013 with Tech winning 6-1.Â

Calvo Barcelo Named ASUN Player of the Week
Fermin Calvo Barcelo was named ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week the conference announced Wednesday (Feb.6).
The senior won both of his matches in the Owls 7-0 win ver UCONN on Sunday. In doubles, he andÂ
Gaston Muhammad teamed up to take down Hank Hill/Yilj Zheng 6-4. In singles, he picked up where he left off last year beating Yilji Zheng 6-1, 6-1 at No.1. With the win, Calvo Barcelo has now won 16 consecutive singles matches. He currently ranks No.106 in the current  Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Singles Rankings. That ranking is second-highest in program history.

The Last Time Out
 The Kennesaw State Men's Tennis team opened up their season with a 7-0 win over UConn on Sunday afternoon.
 After a lengthy delay due to weather, the Owls (1-0) would come out hot, winning the doubles point over the Huskies (3-4) with a 7-5 victory by sophomore
Bryan Triana and junior
Drew Lahey over John Michael Holtmann and Jack McLister and a 6-3 win by freshman
Gaston Muhammad and senior
Fermin Calvo Barcelo over Hank Hill and Yili Zheng.
In singles action,
Lucas de Torres Curth would get the scoring started, knocking off Jack McLister 6-2, 6-0 at No.4 singles. At No.1 singles,
Fermin Calvo Barcelo defeated Yilji Zheng 6-1, 6-1, while at No.6 singles,
Sebastian Osorio would earn a 6-4, 6-2 win over Christian Provenzano. In No.3 and No.5 singles,
Gaston Muhammad and
Harvey Maughan would both pick up 6-3, 6-4 wins over Hank Hill and Justin Warren. In the most tightly contested singles match, Brian Triana would defeat John Michael Holtmann 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 to preserve the shutout at No.2 singles.
