KENNESAW, Ga. –
After a back-and-forth first half, the Kennesaw State men's basketball team saw North Alabama pull away in the second half as the Lions shot nearly 55 percent in the final period to down the Owls 76-61.

The Owls were dominant at the rim, breaking the all-time single-game record for blocks with 12 stuffs. Five Owls finished the game with two or more blocks.

How it happened: Danny Lewis got the Owls (5-23, 2-11) rolling with back-to-back jumpers to open the game. UNA (9-19, 6-7) eventually knotted the game up at 6-6 before three points the hard way from Isaac Mbuyamba put KSU back in front.

The Owls extended their lead behind a 6-0 run capped off by a layup from Bryson Lockley to lead 19-14 at the 10:39 mark. After trading buckets, the Lions eventually gained the upper hand with a 7-0 run to lead 26-24 with six minutes to play. The two teams proceeded to trade the lead for the final minutes of the half with a last-minute layup from UNA's Kendall Stafford giving the Lions a 35-34 advantage at the break.

UNA set the tone for the second half nailing a three-pointer on its first possession to extend the lead to 38-34. The Owls attempted to answer, but a quick 7-1 swing for the Lions put UNA up 48-39 at the 17:18 mark.

The Owls and Lions went point-for-point as KSU could not seem to break the nine-point barrier. UNA pulled away at the 10-minute mark, sinking four straight three-pointers on its way to a 14-0 run and a 72-52 lead.

KSU pulled the lead back down to 15 points, but could not get any closer as both teams went scoreless for the final three minutes of the game.

Notes: The Owls set a new single-game record with 12 blocks on the night … Bryson Lockley and Tyler Hooker finished with three blocks each while Isaac Mbuyamba, Antonio Spencer and Ugo Obineke all recorded two, career-high marks for both Hooker and Obineke … KSU has now recorded 96 blocks on the year to rank tied for seventh on the DI single-season record list … Hooker recorded his second straight game with 20 or more points, leading the team with 20 … Following his performance, Hooker has made his way onto the all-time single-season record list for points scored with 533 on the year … Danny Lewis netted 13 points to mark the seventh time in the last eight games he's hit double-figures … Bryson Lockley nearly earned his fifth double-double of the year with 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds … UNA shot 54.8 percent in the second half, 7-of-10 from three-point range, compared to 36.6 percent for the Owls, who went 1-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Up next: The Owls hit the road for their final road swing of the regular season, opening the two-game stretch at FGCU Saturday at 7 p.m. followed by Liberty Tuesday (Feb. 26) at 7 p.m.
