JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Kennesaw State men's basketball team fell behind early at North Florida and could not pull back into it as the Ospreys took advantage of KSU's cold stretches to pull away and down the Owls 80-57 Wednesday night.Â

How it happened:Â The Ospreys (11-16, 5-7) came out shooting, going on a 10-0 run to open the game.
Antonio Spencer finally ended the drought for KSU (5-21, 2-9) grabbing the offensive board and putback to spark a 7-0 run for the Owls and make it 10-7 at the 15:21 mark.

Ugo Obineke notched back-to-back jumpers before a three-pointer from
Danny Lewis kept KSU within shooting distance, 18-14. North Florida pushed its lead to double-digits as the Owls recorded only one made bucket over the next seven minutes before a layup from Obineke made it 34-24 with four minutes to go.Â

Back-to-back buckets from Hooker pulled KSU within single-digits, but the Ospreys closed out the half with a three-pointer and a dunk to lead KSU 41-28 at the break.Â

UNF drained six three-pointers in the first half, opening the second period in similar fashion with a trey on its first possession. After a five-point run pushed UNF's lead to 18, 46-28, the Owls responded with an 8-0 run, capped off by a three-pointer from Lewis to pull within 10.

KSU and the Ospreys proceeded to trade buckets with the Owls getting as close as six points, 54-48, following yet another three-pointer from Lewis at the 11:31 mark. North Florida then pulled away behind a 13-2 run over the next four minutes to lead 67-50.

Obineke scored the only two buckets for KSU in the final 11 minutes as UNF pushed its lead to 80-55 before a jumper from Spencer as time expired earned the final score of 80-57.

Notes: Danny Lewis led the way for KSU with 15 points, the fifth time in the last six games he's broken double-figures, sinking a career-high five three-pointers …
Tyler Hooker snapped his six-game streak of 15 or more points, but still hit double-digits with 14 points … Hooker needs just 21 points to record 1,000 career points …
Ugo Obineke logged his first double-digit game in conference play with 13 points …
Bryson Lockley had a tremendous all-around performance with seven points and nine rebounds while tying his career-high with five assists and setting career-highs in blocks (4) and steals (3) … Hooker was one assist shy of his season-high with six dimes, marking his sixth straight game with four or more assists … UNF out-rebounded the Owls 54-38, including 25 offensive boards that lead to 22 second chance points.
