Quotes: Head Coach
Amir Abdur-Rahim
On facing a top-25 team to close out non-conference play…
"We talked to our guys about understanding what we were going into and embracing it. You go into Carver-Hawkeye Arena, a top-25 team, a team with a system and a culture that has been built here for a while, and Coach McCaffrey everywhere he has been he's done a heck of a job, so it was more so about us trusting what we work on and what we do and trying to take steps forward in that. We didn't do that today. I thought we took steps back competitively. It's a heck of a task coming in here. It's your 10th game on the road out of 13 in preseason, it's a heck of a task to be finishing your non-conference schedule out here. But I don't think that should take away from who we are competitively and what we want our identity to be. I thought we took steps back in that area and that's on me. I have to figure out a way to keep them more competitive, make them more competitive, and we'll learn and grow from it and get ready for conference play."
