Football Travels To Wofford For First Round of FCS Playoffs

KENNESAW, Ga.- For the third time in three seasons, Kennesaw State football is one of 24 teams participating in the FCS Playoffs. The Owls travel to Wofford on Saturday for the right to advance into the second round, a place Kennesaw State has found itself the last two seasons.

Parking
Parking for KSU fans is in Lot G. This is $10 cash lot. Click here for a parking map.
Cars must enter from Cummings Street and drive to the back of the Indoor Stadium. The Twitty Street entrance is blocked off Saturday.

Tailgate
Get ready to cheer on the Owls to victory with the Owl Tailgate at Lot G that starts at 12:30 p.m. Free food and drinks will be provided for KSU fans.

Top Storylines
• Kennesaw State returns to the FCS Playoffs for the third consecutive year, as it eyes a third straight appearance in the quarterfinal round.
• The Owls are one of nine teams in the country to make the FCS Playoffs in each of the last three seasons as KSU is in just its fifth year of existence.
• Kennesaw State is 3-2 all-time in the FCS Playoffs and is one of four teams in the country to make to quarterfinals in each of the last two seasons.
• No other start-up program in the last 20 years has more wins in its first five seasons than Kennesaw State at 47 victories. A win Saturday would make KSU the winningest start-up program in history, surpassing Georgia Southern's 47-win start from 1982- 86.
• KSU is the first start-up football program to post three consecutive 10-win seasons during its first five years of competition, and the first Big South Conference program to ever record three straight 10-win campaigns.
• The Owls have knocked off a Southern Conference opponent in the opening game of the FCS Playoffs in each of the last two years, defeating Samford in 2017 and Wofford in 2018.
• The Owls enter the postseason with the No. 1 rushing attack in the country, averaging 350.0 yards per game on the ground, including an FCS-best 53 rushing touchdowns.
• Kennesaw State is one of two teams in the nation (JMU) to rank in the top-5 in scoring offense and total defense, ranking No. 5 in defense (277.8) and No. 5 in offense (40.2).
• Dating back to Week 2 of the 2017 season, Kennesaw State has won 33 of its last 38 games for an 86.8 winning percentage.
• With last weekend's victory against Gardner-Webb, Kennesaw State has won 26 of its last 27 regular season games against FCS opponents, dating back to week two of the 2017 season.
• The Owls saw their streak of 12 consecutive Big South Conference victories come to an end on Nov. 2 against Monmouth, a mark that goes down as the second-longest streak in league history. Liberty holds the record at 16 from 2006-09.
• Kennesaw State has won nine consecutive true road games against FCS opponents dating back to the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs at Sam Houston State in 2017.

Noting Wofford
• Wofford captured the 2019 Southern Conference regular season championship for the third straight year with an 8-3 overall record and 7-1 mark in league play.
• The Terriers opened the year with back-to-back losses to South Carolina State and Samford before reeling off eight straight FCS wins.
• Josh Conklin is in his second season at the helm of the Terriers, posting an overall record of 17-7. He is 0-1 in the FCS Playoffs, losing to the Kennesaw State last year.
• KSU will see a familiar face on the opposing sideline on Saturday, as former All-American quarterback Chandler Burks is a graduate assistant for Wofford. He is the most decorated player in KSU history, accounting for 89 total touchdowns.
• Wofford has the No. 2 rushing attack in the country at 323.5 yards per game, sitting only behind Kennesaw State.
• Despite ranking No. 4 in the nation in time of possession, Wofford is No. 1 in the country in fumbles lost with two and No. 2 in the country in turnovers lost with eight.
• Quarterback Joe Newman leads the rushing attack with 880 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. He has also passed for 1,037 yards and seven scores.
• Wofford has a balanced defensive attack with six players recording 40+ tackles on the year. Michael Mason has a team-leading 10.5 tackles for loss, while Keyvaun Cobb has a pair of interceptions.
