JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Kennesaw State women's volleyball team opened the final weekend of the regular season with a dominant straight-set sweep, 25-12, 25-21, 25-15, at Jacksonville Friday night.

How it Happened: The Owls (19-8, 12-3) jumped out to an early lead over JU (10-20, 5-10) thanks to two aces from
Lauren Chastang sandwiched around a kill by
Quin Sutphin to give KSU a 6-1 advantage. KSU pushed its lead to eight, 11-3, as the Owls were hitting .556 at one point in the set. Sutphin pushed the Owls' lead to double-digits, 16-6, with back-to-back kills followed by a block with
Emma Schurfranz. Chastang extended the lead to 22-10 with three straight aces to give her five in the first set alone, before
Jasmine Brown put down the final kill to give KSU a 25-14 first set victory.

The second set started off in similar fashion as KSU went on a 4-0 run, capped off by an ace from
Karlee Groover, to lead 6-1. The two teams went back-and-forth as KSU pushed its lead to seven, 15-8, following a kill from Sutphin. JU then responded with a 4-0 run to cut the lead to three. The Dolphins eventually pulled to within one, 18-17, behind a 3-0 run, but a kill and a block from Brown gave KSU a little cushion. Jacksonville attempted to rally once again, cutting it to 21-20, but the Owls closed out the set on a 4-1 swing to take a 2-0 lead.

The final set was a hotly contested affair at the start as JU tied the set early at 7-7. The two squads went point-for-point for the next few minutes deadlocked at 15-15. It was then that the Owls flipped the switch, scoring the next 10 straight points to race to a 25-15 third set victory. KSU hit an impressive .520 in the third set to record the sweep.

On the victory...
"Well played match by our group tonight. there was a nice consistent focus, energy and communication throughout our entire team all day long."
On KSU's attack...
"All three of our touches on the offensive end were clean tonight. And when we pass, set and attack that well over the course of an entire match, with the variety of weapons we have, we bring a lot to the table."
