• Kennesaw State is back on the road for the second straight week, traveling to Hampton for the first time in program history and looking to keep pace in Big South Conference play.
• The Owls are playing Hampton for the first time as the Pirates are in the middle of their first full season as members of the Big South Conference.
• KSU improved to 6-0 last week in games following a loss and has not lost back-to-back games since its inaugural season in 2015, a streak that spans 48 games.
• Kennesaw State captured its seventh consecutive Big South road win last week and will look to make it eight straight at Hampton, a streak that dates back to a 42- 28 victory at Liberty during the 2017 season. • The Owls continue to be the No. 1 rushing attack in the country, averaging 350.0 yards per game on the ground, including an FCS-best 42 rushing touchdowns.
• Kennesaw State is one of three teams in the nation to rank in the top-10 in scoring offense and total defense, ranking No. 6 in the nation in offense (39.0) and No. 8 in the county in defense (297.5).
• The KSU defense ranks eighth in the nation in stopping the run, giving up just 99 yards per game on the ground. The Owls have surrendered 100-plus rush yards four times in 10 games this year.
• Dating back to Week 2 of the 2017 season, Kennesaw State has won 31 of its last 36 games for an 86.1 winning percentage.
• Kennesaw State has won 24 of its last 25 regular season games against FCS opponents, dating back to week two of the 2017 season.
• The Owls saw their streak of 12 consecutive Big South Conference victories come to an end on Nov. 2 against Monmouth, a mark that goes down as the second-longest streak in league history. Liberty holds the record at 16 from 2006-09.
• Kennesaw State has now been ranked in the top-25 for 31 consecutive weeks, a streak that dates back to week nine of the 2017 season. Of those 31 straight weeks in the national polls, 25 have been in the top 10.
• The Owls are 21-8 against first-time FCS opponents and will play Hampton Saturday for the first time in program history.
Noting Hampton
• Hampton is in its first full season in the Big South Conference and was picked to finish sixth overall in the league's preseason poll.
• The Pirates are 5-5 overall on the year, but have played their best football at home, going 4-1 at Armstrong Stadium, including a 40-17 victory over Presbyterian for its only conference win of the season.
• Head coach Robert Prunty is in his second season at the Helm of Hampton football, posting an overall record of 12-8. He was the first Pirate head coach to post a winning record in his first year since 2008. • The Pirates lead the Big South Conference and rank fifth in the nation in time of possession, holding the ball for an average of 33:51 per game.
• The Hampton defense leads the league and is second in the nation with just two fumbles lost on the year, one of which came last week at Charleston Southern in an overtime loss.
• Florida State transfer quarterback Deondre Francois leads the Hampton offense, throwing for 2,362 yards and 23 touchdowns, while rushing for four more scores. He completes 59 percent of his passes and averages 236,2 passing yards per game.
• The top target at wide receiver is Jadakis Bonds, a 6-4, 179-pound sophomore who leads the country with 14 touchdown catches this season. He also leads the Big South Conference with 68 receptions and 84.5 yards per game. He is just 155 yards away from 1,000 yards receiving for the year.
• Fifth-year senior running back Shai McKenzie is on the brink of a 1,000-yard season on the ground, averaging 96.7 yards per game and needing just 33 yards to reach the mark. He has eight rushing touchdowns on the season and six 100-yard rushing games. • Oral Varcciann leads the defense with 64 total tackles and 4.0 tackles for loss. Mason King has an FCS-best four fumble recoveries to go along.
