Football Moves Into Top-5 In National Polls

KENNESAW, Ga.- After winning its sixth-straight game with a 41-17 victory over North Alabama on Saturday, Kennesaw State football advanced to No. 5 in the STATS FCS poll while checking in at No. 4 in the AFCA Coaches' Poll, the organizations announced today.
 
With the rankings, the Owls have found themselves in the Top-25 for 29 consecutive weeks, including 25-straight weeks of boasting a Top-10 ranking.
 
The Owls' rushing attack could not be slowed down against the Lions, as Kennesaw State collected a season-high 490 yards on the ground. KSU was led by Daniel David, who rushed for 111 yards and three scores. Kevin Ficklin turned in an impressive performance as well, as he found the endzone twice.
 
The Owls currently lead all FCS teams in total defense, surrendering just 259.0 yards per game. KSU is 11.0 yards ahead of Central Connecticut State and 11.6 yards in front of top-ranked North Dakota State.
 
KSU is joined by Dartmouth as the only FCS teams in the country to rank in the top three in the nation in scoring offense and scoring defense. The Owls rank No. 3 in offense (41.4) and No. 3 in defense (14.3).
 
Kennesaw State leads all Division I FBS and FCS football teams in rushing yards per game and rushing touchdowns. The Owls are averaging 369.5 yards per game on the ground, while rushing for 37 scores.
 
The Owls continue their quest for a third-straight Big South championship on Saturday (Nov. 2) versus Monmouth. Kennesaw State has not lost a regular season home contest since Oct. 15, 2016, winning 17 consecutive games during the last four seasons. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
