FORT MYERS, Fla. – Kennesaw State University battled Florida Gulf Coast University in a hard-fought match, but came up short in a 2-0 decision Thursday.
"It was a tough battle tonight, and I'm proud of our team's effort," said Head Coach Benji Walton. "We will look to rebound for a tough game on Sunday."
The Owls (7-7-0, 2-3-0 ASUN Conference) registered 12 shots, with Isabella Contreras leading the way with four. Contreras, Becky Contreras, and Carly Pressgrove each had a shot on-goal.
Tiffany Sornpao had six saves against the Eagles (8-3-1, 3-0-1), who had 18 shots and eight on target.
FGCU scored in each half thanks to the work of Louise Lillback. She scored in the 29th minute of the first half, and assisted Silvana Gordon at 86:43.
The Owls remain on the road for a Sunday match at Liberty University. Kickoff for the ASUN contest is 1 p.m.
