Game Preview
Riding a season-high four-match winning streak, the Kennesaw State women's soccer team is back in action on Thursday when it travels to Birmingham, Ala. to visit Samford. Kickoff in 8 p.m. (ET).

The contest marks the first of two matches for the Owls this week as they return home to Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Sunday to host Mercer beginning at 6 p.m. (ET).

Weekend Recap
The Owls remained unbeaten this season at Fifth Third Bank Stadium after recording victories over Georgia Southern (1-0) and Georgia (2-1). Sophomore Erin Harris scored in the ninth minute and Kennesaw State used another strong defensive effort to defeat the Eagles on Friday. KSU came out with energy and pressure, and struck when Morgan Harrison served a ball to Harris, who received it on the right side and delivered a shot into the left corner of the goal for the match's lone score at the 8:43 mark.

In its first win in three attempts against Georgia, junior Emely Sosa headed in the match-winning goal in the 55th minute after the Bulldogs had tied the score 12 seconds earlier. Harris gave the Owls an early 1-0 lead, scoring in the eighth minute.

Scouting Samford
The Bulldogs enter the week 2-5-0 after falling 2-0 to LSU in Baton Rouge, La. on Sunday. Senior midfielder Korrie Sauder tops Samford with four points. Head coach Todd Yelton is in his 17th season at Samford and has compiled a 206-94-37 record.

Series Versus Samford Â
Thursday's contest between Kennesaw State and Samford will mark the 10th meeting between the two programs and the Bulldogs lead the series, 6-3. The Owls posted a 1-0 victory a year ago.

Scouting Mercer
The Bears are 4-3-1 on the season and coming off a 2-1 overtime victory over Jacksonville State. Sophomore midfielder Abigail Zoeller leads Mercer with 12 points, scoring five goals and totaling two assists. Head coach Tony Economopoulos is in his seventh season leading the Bears and has compiled a 70-49-15.

Kennesaw State and Mercer will meet for the 14th time on Sunday and the Owls lead the all-time series, 9-3-1. The two teams met a year ago in Macon and KSU posted a 2-0 victory, marking its second straight win over the Bears.

Harris Named ASUN Player of the Week
Sophomore forward Erin Harris was named this week's ASUN Conference women's soccer Player of the Week. It marks her first career conference honor. Harris was instrumental in helping the Owls to a 2-0 record. The Suwanee, Georgia native scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Georgia Southern on Friday. She followed that effort with a goal and an assist on the game-winning score in a 2-1 win versus Georgia. She concluded the weekend with five points.

Record Start
The Owls' 7-1 start marks their best opening to a season since transitioning to NCAA Division I in 2005. Kennesaw State went 18-0 to begin its inaugural season in 2002 en route to finishing 18-0-1 while competing at the NCAA Division II level.

Kennesaw State Team Notes
• Kennesaw State was picked to finish sixth in the ASUN Conference preseason coaches' poll after receiving 43 points. Defending conference champion Florida Gulf Coast topped the poll, totaling eight first-place votes and 80 points.
• Sophomore Erin Harris leads the Owls and ranks sixth in the ASUN Conference with nine points (3 goals, 3 assists).
• Junior Emely Sosa is tied with Harris for the team lead with three goals.
• Redshirt sophomore Tiffany Sornpao leads the ASUN Conference with five shutouts.
• Sornpao recorded her 12th career shutout on Friday, moving her into fourth place on Kennesaw State's career shutout list and is one away from moving into third place. The all-time mark is 37 set by Jessica Marek (2002-05).

A Look Back at 2017
Kennesaw State concluded the 2017 campaign with an 8-7-4 mark, including a 3-3-1 mark in ASUN Conference play. The Owls' season concluded with a 1-0 loss at Lipscomb in the semifinals of the ASUN Conference Tournament.
