KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State football team continues to garner top-five preseason rankings and has now landed three players on the 2018 HERO Sports Preseason All-America Team the publication announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
Seniors Chandler Burks and C.J. Collins and sophomore Bryson Armstrong will all enter the 2018 season as preseason first team All-Americans, making Kennesaw State one of two teams in the nation with three first team selections according to HERO Sports.
 
To go along with the individual honors, the Owls were ranked No. 3 in the publication's preseason poll, marking the third top-five ranking for Kennesaw State heading into the 2018 season. KSU has also garnered top-five nods from Street & Smith and Athlon Sports.
 
The Owls completed a season for the ages in 2017, posting a 12-2 record and capturing the Big South Conference championship with an undefeated mark in league play. KSU won back-to-back NCAA Division I FCS Playoff games, advancing to the quarterfinals and earning a national ranking of No. 8 in the final poll of the year.
 
Armstrong captured the Jerry Rice Award last year as the national freshman of the year after finishing the 2017 campaign with 114 total tackles (85 solo), 12.5 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks and three interceptions. He added seven pass breakups, four recovered fumbles, three forced fumbles and one blocked kick.
 
Burks earned Big South Offensive Player of the Year honors last season and was named to the Associated Press FCS All-America team after becoming the first quarterback in Big South history to rush for 1,000 yards and pass for 1,000 yards in a single season. He accounted for a school-record 27 touchdowns as a junior and has over 4,500 all-purpose yards in his career.
 
Collins played a key role on the offensive line last year, helping lead the nation's best rushing attack at 330.2 yards per game. The Owls rushed for over 4,623 yards on the year, including a program-record 498 yards on the ground in a 14-point victory at Liberty.
