THE STORYLINE:
· Kennesaw State grabbed an early lead, but couldn't hold off Georgia State as they scored three runs in the seventh inning to go up 6-4 and held on from there.
Jaylen Smith went 3-4 from the plate and had 2 RBI to lead the team.
At the beginning of the game, head coach
Mike Sansing started
Taylor Allum, who was in for one out before getting subbed out to get a nice ovation from the Kennesaw State faithful at Stillwell Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
· Kennesaw State got off to great start scoring three runs in the second inning.
Terence Norman stole home as the Panthers tried to throw out
Jake Franklin at second. The Owls followed that up with a Smith triple to knock in another run. To cap the inning off,
Forrest Bramlett had a sac fly to give the Owls an early 3-0 lead.
· The Panthers responded with one run in the next three innings, but the Owls answered in one of them to preserve the lead.
· In the seventh inning, Georgia State scored three runs on two hits and an error to take their first lead of the game up 6-4.
· The Owls loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't get a run across to cut into Georgia State's lead and didn't threaten again.
