KENNESAW, Ga. – The pitching of Alley Cutting and Abigail Green, and clutch hitting from Patricia Awald and Lauren Bennett led the Kennesaw State softball team to doubleheader sweep of visiting Stetson during ASUN Conference play Saturday at Bailey Park.
 
The Owls (27-13, 7-1) captured the first game, 4-1, and won the nightcap, 8-0, in five innings, to secure a series win.
 
Awald gave Kennesaw State a 2-0 lead with a two-out, opposite field home run in the first inning, and added an RBI single in the fifth, while Cutting (9-7) was solid in the circle, allowing five hits, one run and striking out 10 in seven innings.
 
In the nightcap, Bennett produced a clutch two-out bases loaded triple that highlighted a seven-run second inning, and Maddie Roth went 3-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs.
 
Meanwhile, Green (12-4) won her seventh straight decision after pitching five innings, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out 11.
 
Kennesaw State will go for a series sweep on Sunday when it hosts Stetson (22-16, 2-6) in a 1 p.m. contest at Bailey Park.
