Game Preview
Kennesaw State travels to Stetson and Jacksonville for an ASUN weekend.
First up, the Owls will play at Stetson on Friday, April 20 at 5 p.m. The Owls and Hatters both have one win in conference play right now.
Jacksonville is currently leading the ASUN with a 3-0 record and an 11-3 record overall.
Kennesaw State Team Notes
• Kennesaw State got a crucial split on the opening weekend of ASUN play by defeating Old Dominion 15-6. The Owls came to play on Senior Day jumping on the Monarchs early and never let them back into the game. It was the largest victory over an ASUN opponent that wasn't Howard or Delaware State.
•
Connor Zophy had a great weekend scoring seven goals and dishing out two assists. Against Old Dominion, she led the team with five goals and an assist after getting honored on Senior Day.
•
Haley Swift became the fifth player in program history to surpass the 100-career point mark with one goal and two assists against Coastal Carolina. Last season, Swift set a program record with 66 points during the season.
•
Siena Gore has had an unbelievable freshman season so far. This past weekend, she broke another single-season record and this time it was also an ASUN record. She finished the weekend with 100 draw controls on the season becoming the first ASUN student-athlete to reach triple digit draw controls in a season.
• The weekend before, Gore set a new single-season record for goals at Kennesaw State with her 47th against Furman. She totaled eight more goals this past weekend against Coastal Carolina and Old Dominion to give her 55 through 14 games.
• With the win over Old Dominion, head coach
Laura Maness became the all-time winningest coach in program history. She is now the all-time winningest coach at two different programs as she also is at Detroit.
• Gore isn't only leading the conference in a bunch of categories, but she's also one of the best in the nation in goals per game, draw controls per game and free-position goals per game. She is third in the country in free-position goals per game, sixth in the country in goals per game and eighth in the country in draw controls per game.
• After Zophy's big weekend, she and
Izzy Palermo are second on the team with 23 goals. Zophy also has five assists on the season putting her second on the team in points with 28.
• A big reason for the team being successful at draw controls has been
Abby Squires. She is second on the team with 38 draw controls, but she's also very successful in directing the ball Gore's way who has 100 draw controls.
