ATLANTA, Ga. – Behind home runs from
Patricia Awald,
Maddie Roth and
Jessie Mullen, the Kennesaw State softball team defeated Georgia State, 6-3, Wednesday in Atlanta.

The victory completed a season sweep of the Panthers (23-20) and marked the Owls' (32-14) third straight win and seventh in their last eight games.

Kennesaw State took a 3-0 lead in the third inning as
Olivia Tamewitz opened the frame with single and came around to score on Awald's 12th home run of the season. Roth made it back-to-back homers with a shot over the left field fence.

Georgia State answered with a run in the bottom of the third before scoring twice in the fourth to tie the score, 3-3.

Kira Czyrklis put the Owls back on the top in the fifth with an RBI double, and Mullen completed the scoring with a two-run home run the sixth inning.

Alley Cutting (12-7) pitched four innings of relief, allowed four hits, one run, walked two and struck out five to earn the victory in relief of
Abigail Green.

UP NEXT
The Owls return to Bailey Park this weekend as they host Lipscomb in the final home series of the season. The two teams open play Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
