KENNESAW, Ga. – Senior Lauren Bennett delivered a one-out, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive home the winning run in a 2-1 victory that completed a doubleheader sweep of Lipscomb during Senior Day Saturday at Bailey Park.

Coupled with a 3-2 victory in the opener, the Owls (34-14, 12-2) recorded their fourth ASUN Conference series victory of the season.

After allowing a first-inning run, Alley Cutting (13-7) held the Bisons (29-13, 8-6) scoreless the remainder of the game, allowing five hits and striking out four in a complete-game effort.

Kennesaw State tied the score with a run in the fourth inning without the benefit of a hit and then capitalized on a leadoff single by Alexa Solorzano, a hit batsman and walk when Bennett singled to center field to drive home pinch-runner Abbey Post with the winning run.

Patricia Awald clubbed a two-run home run and Abby Green (15-5) struck out 10 in a complete-game performance to highlight the Owls' victory in game one. Awald's home run in the third gave Kennesaw State a 3-0 lead and was her 13th of the season, moving her into a tie for 10th place on KSU's single-season home run list.

The Owls took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a two-out single by Jessie Mullen, who collected three hits on the day.

In seven innings of work, Green allowed five hits, one earned run, walked three and struck out 10. The senior right-hander recorded 10 or more strikeouts for the sixth time this season.

Circle of Honor: In between games of the doubleheader, the KSU softball program welcomed two new members into its Circle of Honor as it honored longtime friend Linwood Register and former Owl Sharon Swanson.

Kennesaw State will look for the series sweep when it concludes the weekend with a 12 p.m. contest on Sunday.
