Game Preview
Kennesaw State will look to get a win at home against the Winthrop Eagles on Saturday, March 10 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. First draw is at 3 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ILWCA-TV.com.
 
After getting their first win of the season on the road at East Carolina, Kennesaw State dropped a home contest to Saint Francis, so they'll be looking to get back on track against Winthrop.
 
The two teams have played three times before and the Eagles have been victorious in all three.
 
Kennesaw State Team Notes
• Kennesaw State got its first victory of the season over East Carolina. The Owls faced a two-goal deficit early in the second half and responded with a four-goal run to take a two-goal lead and held on from there.
• Siena Gore won her second ASUN Player of the Week award after totaling 11 goals a week ago against East Carolina and Saint Francis. The freshman midfielder also won 14 draw controls and forced five caused turnovers combined in the two games.
• Gore has been on fire on the offensive end this season leading the team with 21 goals. She is averaging 4.2 goals per game. She also leads the team with 33 draw controls, 13 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. She is 10th in the country and goals per game and 16th in the country in draw controls per game.
• Izzy Palermo is second on the team with 11 goals. She has scored in every game this season and has scored multiple goals in four of the five games. Her season high is four goals against East Carolina. She had a big game on the offensive end against ECU scoring four goals matching a career high for the sophomore. Two of her goals came late and pushed the Owls into the lead for the final time to help seal the first victory of the season.
• Five of the top seven goal scorers for the Owls are underclassmen. The two upper classmen are Connor Zophy and Haley Swift, who both have five goals this season.
• Marissa Gore has seen action in the last two games for the Owls and has made a difference with two goals and two assists.
 
Next Up
Kennesaw State will host Quinnipiac on Wednesday, March 14 at 2 p.m. in Fifth Third Bank Stadium. It will be the first meeting between the two teams.
