THE STORYLINE: 
· Sunday's series finale resulted in a pitchers' duel between Kennesaw State and Samford, as a 2-1 final decision went in favor of the Bulldogs at Stillwell Stadium.
· The Owls (6-7) were held to two hits, both of them coming in the ninth frame, while Samford (6-6) plated just two runs and held off KSU's bats to avoid the series sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· Junior RHP Jake Rothwell, a St. Petersburg, Fla., native, allowed just one run on three hits in 5.0 frames of work in a hard-fought loss.
· His resume on Sunday added up to a season-best six punch outs and issued just one walk on 94 pitches – 70 percent of his pitches finding the strike zone.
· Samford's starter, LHP Samuel Strickland, countered Rothwell with an impressive day. The lefty took a no-hitter into the seventh before handing the ball off to RHP Josh Rich and Erin Baldwin, taking a no-no into the ninth frame.
· The pitchers' duel extended the entire game as the combination of LHP Nathan Dupree, RHP Logan Hutchinson, LHP Brian Exley and RHP Monty Horn allowed just one run over four frame.
· The Bulldogs built a 2-0 lead before Kennesaw State's Jaylen Smith single in the ninth broke up the no-hitter.
· The lead was cut in half when sophomore OF Garett Hodges' RBI single brought the Owls within 2-1, but left one on base and dropped the series finale.
