Kennesaw State Team Notes
• Kennesaw State heads into the contest with a 2-6 record defeating East Carolina and Quinnipiac. The Owls haven't played on the road much as they have only played three games away from Fifth Third Bank Stadium going 1-2 in those games.
• The Owls defense was swarming the entire game holding Quinnipiac to only five goals. That is the least amount of goals they have allowed all season. The stifling defense held the Bobcats to only two goals in the second half allowing the Owls to go on an 8-0 run and break the game wide open.
• Another huge advantage the Owls had against Quinnipiac was on the draw. Kennesaw State won 14 draw controls to just four for Quinnipiac. That is the largest difference that Kennesaw State has had this season. KSU has been really good on the draw this season averaging 13.75 per game. That is the 41st best in the country.
•
Siena Gore scored three goals against Duke to give her 32 for the season. She is seventh in the country averaging 4.0 goals per game. Her 32 goals lead the ASUN.
• Gore also leads the team in draw controls (56) and ground balls (20). Her 56 draw controls and 7.0 average per game is the 10
th best mark in the country. She's also lethal on free-position attempts. She scores an average of 2.25 goals per game on eight-meter attempts. That is the second best mark in the entire country.
•
Izzy Palermo is second on the team with 15 goals. She has scored in every game this season except against Duke and has scored multiple goals in six of the eight games. A season ago she finished with 26 goals.
• The defense has been led by
Laura Jordan, who has 13 caused turnovers. She also has 16 ground balls.
•
Connor Zophy scored two goals against Duke to give her 10 this season. She is third on the team in goals.
•
Haley Swift is approaching a milestone as she is currently sitting at 88 career points. She will be the fifth player in program history to surpass the 100-point mark.
• Before coming to Kennesaw State, head coach
Laura Maness was the head coach at Detroit for five seasons becoming the winningest coach in program history. Last season, the Owls beat Detroit.
Â
Next Up
After the Michigan road trip, the Owls will have four straight home games starting with two more SoCon opponents in Wofford and Furman. The Owls will take on Wofford on Friday, April 6 at 5 p.m.
