KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's Nick Masterson continues to win academic awards as he has been named the ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced on Saturday, February 24.
 
Masterson holds a 3.47 GPA as a mechanical engineering major.
 
"I'm really happy for Nick to continue to get recognized for not only his athletic achievements, but academic achievements as well," head coach Al Skinner said. "It's not easy balancing playing basketball at the Division I level and excelling academically, and Nick has worked extremely hard in both areas. He should be very proud of his accomplishments, and I'm glad he's getting recognized for them."
 
On the court, he is second on the team averaging 15.9 points per game and leads the team with 94 assists on the season. In ASUN play, he's been even better as he leads the team averaging 19.8 points per game.
 
Masterson has proven to be one of the best shooters in the country during his career and this year has been no different. He has made 54.7 percent of his three-point field goal attempts.
 
Along with being named ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year, Masterson is also on the ASUN All-Academic Team for the second straight season.
 
Masterson and the Owls are currently preparing for their ASUN Quarterfinal matchup with Jacksonville on Monday, February 26 at Historic Swisher Gymnasium.
