After being held scoreless until the 5:53 mark in the first quarter, the Owls (2-4) found their offense and led 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. The scoring started with an
Amani Johnson layup and continued with a 3-point play from
Carlotta Gianolla that gave the Owls a 12-7 advantage. With under a minute to play,
Kamiyah Street stole the ball and scored in transition to close out the first-quarter scoring.
Idaho State (2-3) opened the second quarter with an 11-2 run that gave the Bengals a 24-18 lead with under five minutes remaining until halftime. The lead tightened after a Gianolla jumper and a pair of Street free throws, but Idaho State claimed a 32-27 advantage at the half.
The Bengals opened up an eight-point lead just two minutes into the third quarter, but Johnson knocked down a 3-pointer at the 8:20 mark to slash the advantage to five points. Street scored six points in two minutes with under five minutes to play in the period that pulled the Owls within one, but the Bengals held 51-47 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
