SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Sophomore Kamiyah Street scored a Kennesaw State NCAA Division I record 41 points during a 102-80 loss to Seton Hall in the opening game of the Seton Hall Tip-Off Saturday in South Orange, N.J.

Street connected on 14 of 23 field goal attempts, including four of seven from behind the 3-point arc, and went 9-for-9 from the free throw line to break the previous KSU mark of 32 set by Kristina Wells versus Stetson on Jan. 18, 2014. Her point total is the most in a game this season at the NCAA Division I level.

Redshirt-senior Simina Avram, playing in her second game for the Owls, scored a career-high 12 points and added four rebounds.

After a competitive first quarter in which Kennesaw State trailed 29-24 after 10 minutes, Seton Hall (2-0) methodically began to pull away and led 53-38 at halftime. The Pirates connected on 60 percent (6-for-10) of their 3-point field goal attempts in the first half.

NOTEWORTHY
  • The Owls' starting lineup consisted of two freshmen (Amani Johnson, Peyton Lewis), two sophomores (Lexi Mann, Kamiyah Street) and junior Carlotta Gianolla.
  • The 102 points allowed by Kennesaw State marked the first time an opponent has reached the century mark since North Carolina defeated the Owls, 102-68, on Nov. 17, 2008 in Chapel Hill.
  • Freshman Amani Johnson also had another solid game, scoring eight points, collecting five rebounds, six assists and three steals.
  • Both teams had effective days shooting the ball as Kennesaw State shot 46.0 percent (29-for-63) from the field, while Seton Hall connected on 50.8 percent (32-for-63) field goal attempts.
The Owls conclude tournament play against UMBC Sunday at 11 a.m.
