Kennesaw State begins ASUN play against the Lipscomb Bisons on Saturday, January 6 at 4:30 p.m.
The Owls head into the game coming off a win in the non-conference finale over Carver Bible. It put the Owls record at 4-11 with all four wins coming at home.
Lipscomb had one of their best non-conference seasons ever finishing with a 10-5 record led by Garrison Matthews, who leads the ASUN averaging 21.4 points per game.
Since head coach
Al Skinner has been at Kennesaw State, the teams are 2-2 the past two seasons.
Promotions
Tyler's Amazing Balancing Act will perform at halftime of the men's game against Lipscomb at 4:30 p.m. Tyler has performed all over the country including on America's Got Talent, Regis and Kelly and Ripley's Believe it or Not.
Scouting Lipscomb
Despite their starting point guard being out all season with a hip injury, the Bison have still been able to put up points behind Garrison Matthews, who leads the ASUN averaging 21.4 points per game.
The Bison also have a formidable post presence behind Rob Marberry and Eli Pepper.
Casey Alexander leads Lipscomb and is in his fifth season as their head coach.
Masterson Shoots at a High Percentage
Masterson is making 55.6 percent of his threes despite other defenses keying on him in the Owls offense. At home, he's even better as he is 17-28 from behind the arc and making a staggering 60.7 percent.
When you combine his shooting percentage with two-point field goals, three-point field goals and free throws, Masterson has a total shooting percentage of 71 percent. That is the 15th best mark in the country.
Jankovic Provides a Lift
Whether he's in the starting lineup or coming off the bench,
Kosta Jankovic has provided an offensive lift for the Owls this season.
He has scored in double figures in eight games this season. He's the fourth leading scorer on the team averaging 9.4 points per game making 48.5 percent of his shots on the season.
Bench Provides a Lift
The Owls bench scored 44 points in the game against Carver, which was a season high.
Kennesaw State's bench has scored more than 40 points in two games this season with the other one being at Florida State.
Mbuyamba Gets First Career Start
Isaac Mbuyamba has provided a lift off the bench all season and he was rewarded by being moved into the starting lineup against Carver.
By Mbuyamba getting the start, it allowed Jankovic to come off the bench giving the Owls more offensive punch with the second unit. Jankovic scored a season high 19 points on 9-13 shooting.
Jankovic set a new career high and led the team against Carver Bible scoring 19 points on 9-13 shooting.
Coming into this season, Jankovic had never scored in double figures in his career.
