Kennesaw State will look to build momentum on the road by winning its second game in a row as they face NJIT on Monday, January 29 at 7 p.m.
The two teams faced off just last Wednesday, and NJIT got the better of the two teams winning 66-60.
The game will be on ESPN3.
The All-Time Series Versus NJIT
The Owls are 2-3 all time against NJIT losing to the Highlanders last Wednesday in the KSU Convocation Center.
NJIT led most of the way because of 20 turnovers from Kennesaw State, but the Owls made a late run cutting the lead down to 4 with 13 seconds left. Despite making it close late, NJIT held on for the victory against Kennesaw State.
Last season at NJIT was a low scoring affair that saw
Kendrick Ray hit a layup with under 10 seconds remaining for a 54-53 victory.
Scouting NJIT
NJIT led Lipscomb by as many as 18 in the first half, but the Bison rallied to to win the game in overtime. The loss by NJIT pushes their record to 3-4 in the conference.
NJIT features a balanced attack offensively with five players averaging more than 7.5 ppg: Tarke (15.1 ppg), Wilson (10.9 ppg), Lewis (10.3 ppg), freshman guard Shawndale Jones (7.7 ppg) and freshman guard Zach Cooks (7.7 ppg).
NJIT is 9-4 at home this season.
Wilson Has Career Day
Against USC Upstate,
Anthony Wilson lifted the Owls with 22 points, six rebounds and four assists in 19 minutes of action. His final two points were the biggest as he hit a turnaround jumper with 1.4 seconds remaining to give the Owls the 81-80 victory.
Last spring, WIlson suffered a knee injury and rehabbed his way back to play his first game against Bethune-Cookman this season.
Since returning from injury, it was the fourth time this season that he has scored in double figures. It was his first career 20-point game.
Masterson Closing in on 1,000
Nick Masterson leads the team averaging 17.9 points per game in ASUN play. With his scoring outburst scoring 20-plus points in three of the seven games, he is closing in on 1,000 career points.
The senior guard is currently at 953. If he continues scoring 18.3 points per game then he will eclipse the 1,000 career point mark in three games.
Getting to the Free Throw Line
In ASUN action, Kennesaw State has averaged getting to the line 22.1 times through the seven games.
Against USC Upstate, the Owls found themselves in a deficit early, but stayed aggressive and went 17-17 from the line in the first half. After falling down by as many as 12, KSU only trailed by one at halftime.
Second Half Comeback
After falling down 65-52 with 13:37 remaining in the game, Kennesaw State closed the game on a 29-15 run to secure their first road victory of the season.
This is the second time this season that the Owls have overcome a second-half deficit. This is the largest second half comeback they have overcome since trailing by 16 to Brewton-Parker during the 2016-17 season.
