KENNESAW, Ga. – Freshman Breanna Hoover scored a career-high 15 points and Kamiyah Street recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Kennesaw State during a 78-57 setback to ASUN Conference-leading Florida Gulf Coast Saturday afternoon at the KSU Convocation Center.

Hoover provided the Owls (4-11, 0-4) with a spark off the bench, scoring 13 first-half points on 5-for-6 shooting, including six points from behind the three-point arc, before finishing 6-for-9 from the floor in 30 minutes of action. Carlotta Gianolla also shared team-high honors with 15 points for KSU.

Florida Gulf Coast (18-3, 4-0) entered the day No. 1 in the Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Poll and leading the ASUN Conference in scoring while averaging 12 three-pointers a game to rank second in the nation. The Eagles, who were averaging 87.7 points per game in ASUN Conference play, were held below their average and to just eight three-pointers in 31 attempts.

STORYLINE
Kennesaw State had a difficult time matching up inside with Florida Gulf Coast as the Eagles outscored the Owls 44-20 in the paint and 19-2 in second-chance points. FGCU led by as many as 18 points in the first half, but KSU chipped away at the lead and trailed 35-24 at halftime. However, FGCU forced 24 Kennesaw State turnovers to finish the game with a 30-6 advantage in points off turnovers.

QUOTING THE COACH
"We wanted to contain them from the three-point line. That is what they do, they are second in the country in three-pointers made, attempted and three-pointers per game," head coach Agnus Berenato said. "They're use to traditional three's and we can't match up with them, but we can somewhat match up with them in two's. We held them below their average in all of those offensive categories and that was a positive for us. We're struggling in turnovers and they are our nemesis right now, and that's because we are playing mostly freshmen."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Florida Gulf Coast, which entered the game averaging 35.3 percent from the three-point line, was limited to 25.8 percent from behind the arc, its third-lowest total of the season. Street, who recorded her second double-double of the season, scored in double digits for the 13th time this season and ninth consecutive game. Gianolla also scored in double digits for the eighth time in her last nine contests.

CATE ZAVITZ HONORED
Cate Zavitz, who joined the Kennesaw State women's basketball team as an honorary sister last year, celebrated her 10th birthday and had the KSU Convocation Center crowd sing happy birthday to her following the game. Zavitz has been diagnosed with Autosomal Recessive Congenital Ichthyosis (ARCI) – a form of skin disease in which her skin grows too fast where she has excess skin on her body, causing her body to overheat easily which decreases her ability to sweat and control her body temperature.
