Game Preview
After a successful home-opening weekend, the Kennesaw State women's soccer team will continue its homestand with a pair of matches at Fifth Third Bank Stadium this weekend.

The Owls return to action on Thursday (Sept. 7) when they host Alabama at Fifth Third Bank Stadium beginning at 7 p.m. KSU will close out the weekend against UNC Ashville Sunday (Sept. 10) at 1 p.m. Thursday's match will be broadcast on ESPN3 while Sunday's contest will be streamed on Facebook.com/KennesawStateOwls.

Friday evening will also mark Fan Appreciation Night with the first 300 fans receiving a KSU tank top. Admission is free and those unable to attend can watch the match on ESPN3.

Kennesaw State turned in a pair of strong defensive performances in defeating Morehead State and Samford by 1-0 scores on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

The two wins improved the Owls to 4-0-2 on the season and marked the first time KSU has been unbeaten through six matches since the 2003 team opened 8-0 en route to the NCAA Division II national championship.

Kennesaw State also posted its fourth consecutive shutout, a feat accomplished for the first time since the 2009 season. The program record for consecutive shutouts is eight set in 2003, and Division I record is five accomplished in 2006.

Quoting Head Coach Benji Walton
"I thought they did an amazing job. They had to fight through it because as the (Samford) game went on they were getting frustrated and it was getting more and more physical. It wasn't perfect but our girls answered the call, and I am proud of their fight."

Week in Review
The Owls returned to Fifth Third Bank Stadium for the first time this season and posted a 1-0 victory over Morehead State. Senior Ashtah Das produced the game-winner when she received a cross from sophomore Emely Sosa and found the back of the net from inside the box at the 20:26 mark. KSU's defense held the Eagles without a shot in the first half and finished the match with a 20-5 shot advantage.

Behind exceptional goalkeeping by redshirt freshman Tiffany Sornpao, Kennesaw State turned back visiting Samford, 1-0, on Sunday. The Owls, who totaled just three shots, took advantage of one of those opportunities when freshman Kendall Hart served a ball into the box to senior Ida Hepsoe, who one-touched it with her left foot and found the left side of the goal at the 38:12 mark. Sornpao made that goal stand up as she recorded 10 saves.

Sornpao Tabbed ASUN Defender of the Week
Redshirt freshman Tiffany Sornpao was selected as the ASUN Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for her effort over the weekend. She came up big in goal for the Owls as she totaled 11 saves and recorded a pair of shutouts over Morehead State and Samford.

Scouting Alabama
• The Crimson Tied are currently 5-1 on the season and have won three straight. Alabama has defeated No. 6 Florida State (1-0), South Alabama (2-1) and Troy (3-0) in its last three matches. Junior Emma Welch tops the team with seven points (2 goals, 3 assists).

Series Versus Alabama
The Crimson Tide lead the series, 3-1, and Alabama recorded a 5-1 victory in the 2015 season opener in Tuscaloosa. KSU's lone win was a 3-2 win at Alabama in 2007.

Scouting UNC Ashville
• The Bulldogs are 3-1-1 on the season after splitting a pair of overtime matches with Jacksonville (W, 2-1) and UAB (T, 1-1) over the weekend. Senior midfielder Courtney Naber leads the team with eight points (4 goals).

Series Versus UNC Ashville
Kennesaw State leads the all-time series, 2-0. The two programs met a year ago in Ashville, and the Owls posted a 2-0 victory.

Kennesaw State Team Notes
• The Owls lead the ASUN Conference in goals-against average (0.62), save percentage (.882), shutout percentage (.687) and win-loss percentage (.833).
