Game Preview
After a weekend where the Owls went 2-1, they return home to face Georgia State in the KSU Convocation Center.
 
The Owls are 2-5 against the Panthers all time, but KSU has won the last two meetings.
 
A season ago, Kennesaw State won in four sets behind 26 kills from Sydni Shelton.
 
Kennesaw State Team Notes
• Kennesaw State traveled to St. Louis for a tournament with UC Irvine, Illinois State and St. Louis. After dropping the opening match against UC Irvine, the Owls won both matches on Saturday against Illinois State and St. Louis to finish 2-1 on the weekend.
Kristi Piedimonte and Katarina Morton were named to the all-tournament team. Playing in her home town, Piedimonte accumulated 110 assists in 10 sets during the tournament. Morton set a school record in the second match with 34 digs and finished with 58 for the entire weekend.
• With the two wins on Saturday, head coach Keith Schunzel has the most wins by a coach in Kennesaw State volleyball history. Coming into the season, he was only three wins away from tying the mark and the Owls notched their third and fourth victories yesterday. Schunzel is in his fifth season with Kennesaw State.
• Different players stepped up throughout the weekend. In the second match against Illinois State, Maddie Jones had a career high 20 kills while also having 18 digs to help defeat the Red Birds. In the night cap on Saturday, Sydni Shelton led the team with 16 kills to help down the host Billikens in straight sets.
• Last week, KSU picked up a road win against Clemson. It was the first road victory against an ACC opponent. Since 2015, the Owls are 2-2 against schools in the ACC.
• This season, the Owls have held their opponents to a .135 hitting percentage while hitting .232 themselves.
• In the first match of the weekend, Katarina Morton became the second Kennesaw State player to accumulate 1,500 career digs. She is closing in on the all-time record at Kennesaw State only needing 134 more digs.
• Kennesaw State is coming off of one if its most successful seasons going 18-11 overall and 12-2 in ASUN play claiming its first ever regular season ASUN Championship.  
• The Owls are 1-0 so far this season at home after beating Troy last Sunday in four sets. Over the past three seasons, Kennesaw State is 17-6 in the KSU Convocation Center.
• This will be the first meeting with Georgia State in the KSU Convocation Center since the 2011 meeting. That day, the Panthers won in five sets.
 
Next Up
Kennesaw State travels to Statesboro, Georgia to play Georgia Southern on Friday, September 8 and Savannah State on Saturday, September 9. The Owls will then travel home to host the Tennessee Volunteers on September the 10th at 3 p.m. in the KSU Convocation Center.
