Game Preview
The Kennesaw State women's soccer team opens its 2017 ASUN Conference schedule on Friday when it welcomes USC Upstate to Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Owls enter conference action with a 5-3-2 record after suffering a 2-1 loss at Middle Tennessee on Friday and falling 2-0 to Furman on Sunday.

With five shutouts thus far this season, Kennesaw State is one shutout shy of equaling its season total from a year ago. The program single-season record is 13 set in 2002.

International Night
Organized by international campus organizations, Kennesaw State will host International Night Friday at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. An International Village will be set up on the concourse level beginning at 6 p.m. Promotional items, nation flags, sample-sized food representative of native countries and students dressed in attire of their country will be featured.

At halftime, a penalty shootout competition will take place on the field with one lucky fan winning a $40 prize package. Following the game, an autograph session will take place.

Quoting Head Coach Benji Walton
"We have to regroup. Obviously, when you lose two games you're going to be down a little bit," Walton said. "I told the girls these are good lessons for us going into conference. USC Upstate is on the upswing and they're doing really well, so we have to be ready and hopefully we'll get off on the right foot."

Week in Review
Kennesaw State fell victim to a late goal and suffered a 2-1 setback at Middle Tennessee Friday in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The Blue Raiders scored the game-winner in the 85th minute as they rallied from a 1-0 deficit to hand the Owls their first road loss of the season. Senior
Ashtah Das gave KSU a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 55th minute.

The Owls closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 2-0 setback to Furman Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. After a scoreless first half, the Paladins got two goals from senior forward Molly Dwyer to record the victory.

• The Spartans are currently 4-5 on the season and had their two-match winning streak snapped Monday after falling 1-0 at Gardner-Webb. Sophomore midfielder Abbie Ellis has been USC Upstate's top offensive threat, totaling seven points (3 goals, 1 assist).Â

Kennesaw State has all-time record of 5-4-4 in ASUN Conference openers since 2005. The Owls' last conference-opening win was a 2-1 victory over Lipscomb in 2013.

Kennesaw State heads back out on the road next week for a pair of ASUN Conference contests. The Owls travel to Florida to meet Stetson in DeLand on Friday (Sept. 29) before traveling to Fort Myers to visit defending conference champion Florida Gulf Coast on Oct. 1.
