Game Preview
After a stretch of four road games to begin the year, the Kennesaw State women's soccer team returns to Fifth Third Bank Stadium this weekend to open its 2017 regular-season home schedule.

The Owls host Morehead State on Friday (Sept. 1) at 7 p.m. and will close out the weekend with a 6 p.m. contest against Samford on Sunday. Live video of both matches will be available on Facebook.com/KennesawStateOwls.
Youth Day
Sunday's match versus Samford will be Youth Day at Fifth Third Bank Stadium A professional face paint artist will be in the concourse prior to kickoff, and the first 100 kids will receive a free bag of popcorn. At halftime, fans will be invited on to the field for a fun kick-around with giant inflatable soccer balls and will be given free KSU soccer stress balls. An autograph session will take place following the match.

Kennesaw State is coming off a solid defensive weekend in which it posted a pair of shutouts. With redshirt freshman
Tiffany Sornpao in goal, the Owls tied Georgia Southern, 0-0, on Friday before defeating Mercer, 2-0 on Sunday.

"I am proud of our team fight this weekend. We have been really working on being more organized and to get two shutouts was huge for our young team. We want to keep building from here as our schedule will only get more difficult as the season continues."

Week in Review
In an evenly played match, Kennesaw State and Georgia Southern played to a 0-0 tie Friday in Macon. The Owls outshot the Eagles, 21-19, and had a 12-8 advantage in shots-on-goal, including five in overtime. Seeing her first career collegiate action, Sornpao recorded eight saves.

A solid defensive effort and two first-half goals stood up as Kennesaw State defeated host Mercer, 2-0, Sunday at Bear Field in Macon. Sornpao, who started her second career match, totaled five saves and recorded her second straight shutout.
Ida Hepsoe gave KSU a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute and
Abby Roth converted a penalty kick in the 38th minute to account for the Owls' scoring.

Roth Tabbed ASUN Defender of the Week
Senior
Abby Roth was selected as the ASUN Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for her effort over the weekend. She anchored a backline that did not allow a goal in two road matches versus Georgia Southern and Mercer. The Columbus, Ga. native converted a penalty kick in the 38th minute that gave the Owls a 2-0 lead and eventual victory over Mercer on Sunday.

Scouting Morehead State
• The Eagles are currently 0-3 on the season after falling in a pair of matches to Northern Kentucky (2-1) and Bowling Green (2-0) last week. Freshman midfielder Caitlyn Burdine has Morehead State's lone goal of the season.

Friday's match will mark the first soccer meeting between Kennesaw State and Morehead State.

Scouting Samford
• The Bulldogs are 0-4 on the season after falling to No. 4 Florida State (4-2) and Michigan State (3-2) in a pair of home matches over the weekend.

• Senior forward Jermaine Seoposenwe leads Samford with seven points, scoring three goals and adding an assist.

Series Versus Samford
Samford leads the all-time series, 6-2. The two programs last met a year ago at Fifth Third Bank Stadium and the Bulldogs recorded a 3-1 victory. The Owls' last win was a 4-2 victory in 2014 in Birmingham, Ala.

Kennesaw State Team Notes
• The 2017 Kennesaw State roster includes six seniors, one junior, five sophomores and 14 freshmen, including one redshirt freshman.
• Kennesaw State was picked to finish fourth in the ASUN Conference preseason coaches' poll after receiving 36 points. Defending conference champion Florida Gulf Coast topped the poll, totaling five first-place votes and 57 points.
• The Owls have been strong defensively in the early season, recording a 0.90 goals-against average.
• Seven different players have accounted for Kennesaw State's seven goals through four games.

Following Sunday's match versus Samford, Kennesaw State will continue its four-match homestand when it welcomes Alabama to Fifth Third Bank Stadium for a 7 p.m. contest on Thursday, Sept. 7.
