 Race Preview
The Kennesaw State Cross Country teams will open their 2017 season in Oxford, Alabama at the JSU Struts Season Opener on Friday, September 1.

 KSU will begin its 30th all-time season of cross country with David Poteet begin his third season as head coach.
 
Per NCAA rules, the meet will be scored in divisions. All Div. I schools will compete in the Red Division, while all other institutions compete in the White Division. 
 
The Owls will compete in the red division against Alabama (M/W), Alabama A&M (W), Alabama State (M/W), Chattanooga (W), Florida A&M (M/W), Georgia Tech (M/W),Kennesaw State (M/W), Samford (M/W) and Troy (M/W). The white division will consist of UAH (M/W), Auburn-Montgomery (M/W), Benedict (W), Birmingham Southern (M/W), Clark Atlanta (M), Clayton State (M/W), Columbus State (M/W), Huntingdon (M/W), Miles (M/W), North Alabama (M/W), North Georgia (W), Tuskegee (M/W), Valdosta State (M/W), Wallace State (M/W), West Georgia (M/W).
 
The women's 4k race will begin at 7 p.m. The men's 5k race is scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m.
 
Owls Complete Season at NCAA South Regionals
Eight members of the Kennesaw State Cross Country teams finished their season in Tallahassee, Florida at the NCAA Cross Country South Regionals at the Apalachee Regional Park on Friday, November 11.
 
KSU Team Notes
- The men's team returns three letter winners welcoming three newcomers to the roster this season. While the women's team returns three letter winners and welcomes four newcomers. 

 - The women's team returns three runners from last year's squad including senior Saidah Grant, junior Caitlyn Farrell and sophomore Bonnie McKinnon. They will be joined by freshmen Brooke Aumer,  Morgan Haney, Katie Meyer and Reagan Poteet who will help strengthen the team. Grant, Farrell and McKinnon competed in all six meets for the Owls last season. 
 
The men's team returns three athletes from last year's roster. Senior Jordan Hand, sophomore Will Hasse, and redshirt-sophomore Logan Poteet, who redshirted last season after transferring from North Florida, will lead a very talented group that includes three freshmen in Chase Kennedy, Colton Page and Ben Patterson. Hand and Hasse combined for eight top 35 finishes a year ago. Poteet won the men's ASUN Cross Country individual championship while at North Florida in 2015.
 
- In the annual ASUN preseason cross country coaches' polls, the women were picked fourth, while the men were voted fifth.

The Owls will  host the inaugural Stan Sims Invitational on Friday, September 8, at Sam Smith Park in Cartersville, Georgia.
