KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior defender
Abby Roth was named the ASUN Conference women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday (Aug. 28).
Roth's play in the back helped the Owls to a 1-0-1 week as she scored a goal and anchored a backline that did not allow a goal in two road matches versus Georgia Southern and at Mercer. She was instrumental in organizing a backline that helped redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Tiffany Sornpao record shutouts in her first two career starts.
The Columbus, Ga. native converted Kennesaw State's first penalty kick of the season when she scored in the 38th minute to give the Owls a 2-0 lead and eventual victory over Mercer on Sunday.
Roth's steady play in the season's first four matches has helped Kennesaw State register a 2-0-2 record and post 0.90 goals-against average.
The Owls return to action on Friday (Sept. 1) when they host Morehead State in their home opener at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Admission to all KSU home soccer matches is free. The match will also be broadcast live on
