VB: Owls Travel to Clemson for Midweek Clash

Game Preview
After defeating Troy in the Owls home opener 3-1, the hit the road for the first time this season traveling to Clemson.
  
The Tigers won the Big Orange Bash on their home court last weekend by defeating Jacksonville, Lamar and Bethune-Cookman.
 
This will be the first time that the Owls and Tigers have played each other.
 
Kennesaw State Team Notes
• Kennesaw State was picked to finish third in the ASUN preseason poll with a total of 53 points. Lipcsomb and FGCU were picked to finish first and second as the Bisons had 60 points and the Eagles had 55.
• The Owls had three players land on the ASUN Preseason Team led by Katarina Morton who was named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Anaiah Boyer and Kristi Piedimonte were also name to the ASUN Preseason Team with Boyer being one of three players unanimously voted on.
• Kennesaw State is coming off of one if its most successful seasons going 18-11 overall and 12-2 in ASUN play claiming its first ever regular season ASUN Championship.  
• KSU returns 13 players from that championship squad a season ago including five starters plus the libero.
•The Owls welcomed three freshmen to the roster for this season in Lauren Chastang, Karlee Groover and Quin Sutphin. The three were received honorable mention as a recruiting class by Prepvolleyball.com.
• Morton, Boyer and Piedimonte had monster years as juniors. Not only were all three named ASUN First Team All-Conference, but Morton was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Year.
• They weren't the only three players honored at the end of last season as middle blocker Liesl Engelbrecht was named ASUN Second Team All-Conference after totaling 233 kills hitting .338 and 94 blocks.
• Coming into the season, a couple of seniors are close to breaking KSU records. Boyer is 280 kills away from being the all-time leader and is only 40 kills away from notching her 1,000th career kill. Morton is 213 digs away from setting the all-time digs record. She is currently sitting on 1470 after three seasons.
• Heading into his fifth season as head coach, Keith Schunzel is four wins away from becoming the all-time winningest coach in Kennesaw State history.
 
Next Up
After facing Clemson on the road, Kennesaw State will travel to St. Louis to play UC Irvine, Illinois State and St. Louis on September 1-2.
