Kennesaw State opened its season last weekend and posted a 1-0-1 record. The Owls played Winthrop to a 1-1 draw on Friday (Aug. 18) before topping Georgia State, 4-3, on Sunday.

Quoting Head Coach Benji Walton
"I told the team to be proud of the win but not be satisfied, and stay dedicated to the process. I look forward to seeing how we continue to respond to new challenges. We have two very tough road games next weekend so we have to refocus quickly."

Week in Review
Senior Ashtah Das came up big for the Owls as she used some nifty footwork to defeat a defender and produce a solid shot to score the equalizing goal in the 87th minute and help Kennesaw State play host Winthrop to a 1-1 draw. KSU opened the season with 13 newcomers on its roster, and four freshmen were in the starting lineup. Eight rookies saw playing time.

A quick start propelled the Owls to a 4-3 victory over Georgia State on Sunday.  KSU received goals from four different players, including three freshmen, taking command early and scoring twice in the first 15 minutes, and adding their final goal as time expired in the first half. Sophomore Isabella Contreras got Kennesaw State going, scoring in the 12th minute, and freshmen Kendall Hart, Erin Harris and Kameron Downs all notched their first career goals.
