KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's lacrosse player
Taylor Catts was invited to play in the FIL Rathbones Women's Lacrosse Cup with the D1 Elite team for USA in England from July 18-25.
"It was an amazing experience to play lacrosse in England because it opened my eyes to see how much lacrosse has grown across the world," Catts said. "Each country had a different playing style and level of play, but we all came together to play the sport we love."
Her team finished in second place in the Open Division of the tournament behind the developmental team in England.
Along with playing lacrosse, the team did some sightseeing in England to take in the culture.
"We had the opportunity to explore Oxford, England the day we got there and had lunch with our teams," Catts said. "On our off day, we went to Windsor Castle where the Queen stays and got to tour inside. At night time after our games, the teams were free to explore downtown Guildford, England to eat and shop."
The most unique experience for Catts was playing teams from around the world and then meeting everyone and taking pictures after the game.
"My favorite part of the trip was when each team after every game wanted to take a picture with us," Catts said. "After the whole tournament a girl from the South Japan team came up to me and wanted to traded jerseys with me. I thought that was so cool because they really looked up to my team from the USA and wanted a souvenir to take home with her."
"I learned from this trip that it didn't matter where you were from or what level of lacrosse you were on, but it was that we all came together to play a sport we loved. It was a trip of a lifetime and it was an unforgettable experience. I just want to thank KSU lacrosse for exposing me so I could get an invite to play in the World Cup festival in England."
