KENNESAW, Ga. -- The NCAA has announced that Kennesaw State rising junior QB Chandler Burks is among an exclusive group of student-athletes from across the country selected for the 2017 Career in Sports Forum.

The annual educational forum hosted by the NCAA at its national office in Indianapolis in June, brings together 200 student-athletes to learn and explore potential careers in sports, with the primary focus on college athletics. More than 1,000 student-athletes were nominated.

"I'm honored to have been selected to represent Kennesaw State," said Burks. "This is not just a recognition for me, but for this great university, our football program, and all of my teammates."

A second-team All-Big South selection and member of the Big South Academic All-Conference Team, Burks accounted for 36 percent of the Owls' touchdowns with a conference-leading 22 (13 passing, nine rushing) last season. The signal-caller helped lead the Owls to an impressive 8-3 record. He rushed for 799 yards -- averaging 72.6 yards per game, while throwing for 1,250 yards. The sport management major owns a 3.87 cumulative GPA, including a 4.0 this past semester.

"I'm proud of Chandler for the leadership role he has taken on our team," said head coach Brian Bohannon. "He's not only a great athlete, but a better person and leader. This is a well-deserved opportunity to help advance his own career once he graduates from Kennesaw State. He'll be a success at whatever he chooses to pursue."

This unique, four-day forum is designed to assist student-athletes in charting their career paths, as well as provide an opportunity to network and learn from current athletics professionals.

The cutting-edge topics covered by industry experts include: how personal values intersect with career opportunities, how behavioral styles impact individual effectiveness, the key professional and career development information to assist with transition from a student-athlete to a professional, and the role of the college coach or athletics administrator. Participants will network with peers, as well as key decision-makers at the campus, conference and national level of college athletics.
